A New Weapon in the Fight against Breast Cancer
Logan Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce an addition to its list of diagnostic services—digital mammography–the most modern and best method to detect breast cancer at an early stage.
Logan Regional Medical CEO, Kevin Fowler announces that the hospital has installed new digital mammography equipment that will help physicians detect and diagnose breast cancer patients earlier and more accurately.
The system, called the Senographe Essential full-field digital mammography system, is designed and manufactured by GE Healthcare to provide physicians with clear and precise all-digital images rather than on X-ray film.

"The new system will revolutionize breast care and help us provide the most advanced care for our patients," said Fowler. "The technology provides outstanding quality and clear, highly-detailed images. It offers a better view of the breast, especially near the skin line, chest wall and in women with all breast tissue types."
The new digital mammography system was added to the facility's diagnostic services dedicated to women and the early detection of breast cancer.
"The technology allows the radiologist to view and manipulate the images on high-resolution computer monitors that enhance visualization of the structures within the breast tissue. The radiologist can also adjust brightness and contrast, and zoom in on specific areas to help detect small calcifications, masses, and other changes that may be signs of early cancer," commented Nancy Godby, Logan Regional Medical Center COO. Godby, former director of radiology has worked diligently on this project. "This technology helps us provide high quality care and diagnosis to women."
